I guess I'm kind of dumb. What is funny about this photograph as it relates to the market?
I know having to explain a joke ruins the joke, but...
I've used this picture quite a few times before. Have you seen the movie? In this scene they are very excited for no real reason, the lemurs just like to dance and party. We'll see of course but yesterday's lift may have exceeded the reality of what congress actually agreed to but if not, it is still a funny picture IMO.

I think Josh Brown gets closer to the mark at http://tinyurl.com/apdop6c (ht BP) and supplies a useful investing heuristic too but, yeah, animal spirits will certainly do (particularly if they're lemurs, god love 'em).

Not including the 2-4 Jan action, here is an amazing chart:

Is it a triple top or a double bottom?
Double bottom or triple top ...the Magic 8-Ball says, "maybe." More seriously, the JPM quarterly "Guide to the Markets" slide show from which that graphic came is really worth a browse or two; audio and written narrative are supplied. The link provided by TBP is http://tinyurl.com/78ymvmf
On another note, Mick Jagger got his moves from the lemurs: The Telegraph gets that historical sequence wrong (unless they believe Jagger was gigging before the lemurs evolved jigging) but the pictures tell all at http://tinyurl.com/alvwqn4
