Dakar Update

A couple of days ago I posted my annual wrong tool for the job post in relation to the modified Hummer H3 that NASCAR driver Robby Gordon enters into the Dakar Rally every year. I mentioned he had problems on day one and as you can see from the above picture, stage 4 didn't go so well either and he is now six hours off the lead.

In addition to the wrong tool there are no doubt several behavioral parallels that could be drawn as well.

A family obligation in Phoenix last night altered my regular schedule, so a short post today.

I was driving back from a breakfast with a couple of friends in Wilmington NC this morning. I was passing over one of the several bridges that span the Cape Fear River and tributaries/swamp and saw a bridge being painted on this state highway by one guy with one paint brush.

I figure he'll have the job completed by 2025.

Your article made me chuckle....

This is a perspective I suspect Roger and many of his readers would find both congenial and relatively unremarkable:

A Paradigm Shift: The Savings Portfolio
at http://pragcap.com/a-paradigm-shift-the-savings-portfolio

"The fact is that we aren’t traditional investors in the classic sense, we are in fact savers who should be focusing on generating real, risk-adjusted returns on our savings."

NB: "Paradigm shift" is an overused (and abused) term, the above would better be characterized as a useful reframing, an adjustment in perspective.

thanks for the link RW, I think it is a very interesting framing of the task.
