The Human Fund
Per the UN the countries with the highest quality of life as of 2007.
1. Norway
2. Australia
3. Iceland (likely to drop in next survey since 2007 data was analyzed prior to global economic crisis)
4. Canada (has one of the most open immigration policies around)
5. Ireland
6. Netherlands
7. Sweden
8. France
9. Switzerland
10. Japan (longest life expectancy at 82.7 years on average)
11. Luxembourg
12. Finland
13. United States
14. Austria
15. Spain
16. Denmark
17. Belgium
18. Italy
19. Liechtenstein (highest GDP per capita at $85,383)
20. New Zealand
21. United Kingdom
The Human Fund is the charity George Costanza made up. Someone left a comment noting that healthcare in New Zealand is quite good. Maybe that is worth investigating in case the Schiffians turn out to be correct about the US.

Looking at four of the top five names on the list, I doubt that the weather was taken into account when evaluating "quality of life".
Interesting thought-starter for an etf.
Roger,
We just do not like this market do we. Can not call it a bull or write much positive about the markets.
Kind of reminds me of the Bespoke article today about someone hating GS at 110 but loving it at 200.
One day we all will have to get more invested. Hope it is not at S&P 1300.
Minus lehman these are the levels you originally predicted for this bear market. Did you not expect a bull after that normal bear?
I really am not trying to tick you off as much as strongly recommend you review your stance. This market has been extremely profitable and I just do not see it changing any time soon. Yes there will be volatility and pull backs, but you have to live with that to get the profits.
Only a Seinfeld character could put together this ranking.

I may be mistaken, but don't all of the top 10-12 have guaranteed universal health care? Maybe having security in that sense makes for better quality of life than having, say, a big military.
Just a thought.
