I have been an investor for 30 years or so and I have learned to discount the "this time it's different" argument. However, ultimately the energy situation is a "paradigm shifting" problem in that we are an oil based economy and the supply of oil is finite. This is the variable that concerns me most, if not immediately, then long-range. At some point, things will be different, and I think energy will be the catalyst.
