Dream Year?

Abhijit Chakrabortti from JP Morgan was on CNBC for an interview about his bearish outlook for 2006. He has been on before and I tend to agree with a lot of his analysis.

In addition to expecting the market finish the year a little lower he favors energy and telecom, as do I.

He made one comment that I thought was strange. He said that a down S+P 500 with Telecoms up for the year would be a dream year.

A dream year? What does that mean? Is he hoping the market does down? If so why would he, a strategist, hope for that? It would be reasonable to wonder to what extent ego might be involved. While I think the market will be down this year I would rather be wrong.

I may have his mind set completely upside down but ego does filter in to a lot of what gets published out there, as does talking your book. Learning how filter this out would be very constructive.
