Great Read From A New (to me) Blog
Abnormal Returns » Blog Archive » Emerging markets hoopla
Go read it and come back.
OK, good.
The research is thought provoking. The question I would ask to challenge the idea would be if the data supports the theory during commodity bull markets. A lot of my emerging market exposure is tied to what I perceive as benefiting from increased global demand for commodities.
Also I would have liked to have read a little more about the role of the assets class in a portfolio and more about different correlations (or lack thereof) to American markets. Reduced correlation also plays a role in why I own emerging markets too.
