A Quick Post
I'm half way through reading Barron's this morning and the Electronic Trader column again has nothing about investment blogs. It has been weeks since they last mentioned a blog, I'm afraid they may be done.
Someone posted a question on last nights iShares/CEF article about whether I care about CEF discounts and premium. I have touched on this many times before. I don't get too hung up on premiums and discounts. 5% either way does not concern me. I am likely to stay away from any premium greater than 10%. There nothing that says premiums and discounts had to trend back to NAV. Emotion can cause a large discount to get larger. So again, don't get too hung up. As I wrote about a couple of weeks ago sometimes premiums and discounts can do strange things, MGB as a case in point. If you want to try to capture the effect of, say, Israel you are going to consider the First Israel Fund (ISL). Premium or discount you would sell it if it does not do a good job of capturing the effect, right?
Lastly, the voting has tightened up in the Blogging awards but not to worry I am in no danger of winning;-))

i tried shorting a bond CEF with a 20-30% premium yesterday, but the broker couldn't find shares to short. i guess that explains the premium. i was trying to hedge against some discounted leveraged bond CEFs that i bought the day before
